Introducing Lover Snap

We’re launching Lover Snap, an iPhone app that uses AI to help people create new photographs with the people they love — including people who have passed away, who live far away, or who they wish they’d had more time with.

What it does

Upload 3-16 reference photos of yourself (or someone you want to include). The app trains a private AI character that resembles them. About 30 minutes later you can generate photorealistic images of that character in any scene — at a wedding, a quiet kitchen, the beach they always wanted to visit.

Why memorial

We started Lover Snap as a tool for long-distance couples. Within weeks of launch, users started writing in with a different use case: photos with parents and grandparents and pets who had passed away. Photos for wedding albums where one chair was empty. Holiday photos that never got to happen.

We sat with it, talked to grief counselors, and decided to lean in — with a published ethics framework and product-level commitments. We will never generate AI photos of minors. We will never simulate speech. We will never market the technology as resurrection.

What’s next

We’re rolling out 34 languages, Live Photos for Advanced subscribers, and a video memory feature shortly. If you want to be part of how this evolves, email us — we read every message at [email protected].
